Museo del ciclismo Gino Bartali
After the agreement between the Municipal Administration and the Association of Friends of the Gino Bartali Museum, the management was transferred to Palazzo Vecchio and the museum was included within the Civic Museums of Florence. The structure is located in Ponte a Ema, the place where the great champion was born and began his competitive career. Velocipedes, bicycles, jerseys, memorabilia, period newspapers, publications, and films document the history of cycling, the achievements of Gino Bartali, and other champions.
Over one thousand square meters are spread over three floors: in the basement, there is a collection of bicycles from various eras, showcasing their technical evolution. The first floor houses the main museum, displaying bicycles that belonged to great cycling champions, including a perfectly preserved Stucchi, the jerseys of past champions (Gino Bartali, Fausto Coppi, Franco Bitossi, Alfredo Martini), biographies, and Gino Bartali’s trophies to whom an entire room is dedicated. There are also anecdotes about Bitossi, Boni, Chioccioli, Ciolli, Corrieri, Martini, Poggiali, and Tognaccini.
