The Museo delle Terre Nuove is hosted in the Palazzo d’Arnolfo, attributed by Vasari to Arnolfo di Cambio, in San Giovanni Valdarno. The museum narrates the phenomenon of the foundation of new urban settlements in the late Middle Ages, the New Lands, occurring in most of Europe. It focuses in particular on its development in Tuscany and in the Florentine area where, starting from the end of the thirteenth century, Florence founded many villages among which Castel San Giovanni, the San Giovanni Valdarno of today.
