Fiesole Family tour
A new way for families and children to visit the town, an explorer’s backpack, and an app to discover the beauties and history of Fiesole for yourselves.
The weekend of 28-29 May will be full of surprises, with the launching of a kit and an app dedicated to families of residents and tourists who wish to visit Fiesole and discover the history of its territory by themselves in a fun way. Thanks to specially-devised trails created on the territory, families will be guided on their tour and children will become town explorers in their own right.
An itinerary divided into 10 stopping-points dedicated to exploration and discovery: a map, 10 postcards and a notebook for the families, these are the tools all adults and children will be able to use to journey through art and history. For digital natives there is also the chance to download a free app for smartphone or tablet. Its interactive itineraries will provide yet another guide to the territory, with riddles, games and many other things.
Everything is divided up into two age-groups, 6-9 and 10-13, and is available in both Italian and English.
The kits can be rented free of charge at the Tourist Information Office (Ufficio Informazioni Turismo) of Fiesole. Each family can visit the center and surroundings of Fiesole by themselves and at their own speed, handing the kit back within 3 hours of renting it. The App can be downloaded on Google Play and Apple Store. So, it will all begin on the weekend of 28-29 May! For that weekend, we recommend you book the kit.
Fiesole Family tour is the fruit of the cultural heritage appreciation program organized by the Museo degli Innocenti and the Associazione Mus.e, in collaboration with the Borough of Fiesole and Fondazione Primo Conti, and specially targeted at children and teenagers. The proposal is supported by exceptional partners: besides the Region of Tuscany, which sustained the project, a fundamental contribution has been made by F.I.L.A., the leading manufacturer of GIOTTO children’s colouring and art materials, and the app has been created by D’Uva Workshop, a highly-reputed company in the field of cultural heritage technology.
Family Tour is part of the joint project of Museums of Fiesole, Fondazione Primo Conti and Museo degli Innocenti (the historical Foundling Hospital Museum), “Museums with a view”.
