Magnificent: the incredible story of the beauty that revolutionized the world
A digital work created by Felice Limosani and narrated by the renowned tenor Andrea Bocelli.

From May 1st to October 31st 2015, there will be another reason to visit Florence and its wonderful treasures. Palazzo Vecchio is a palace that shows seven centuries of the city’s history. Magnificent, the digital work hosted in the Arms Room and narrated by the renowned tenor Andrea Bocelli, adds another element to the story.

Magnificent – the incredible story of the beauty that revolutionized the world is neither a movie, nor a documentary, nor an exhibition. Magnificent is a auditory and visual experience appealing to qualities evident in animated films and video art installations.
Felice Limosani used digital techniques to put together the greatest Renaissance paintings and sculptures giving a captivating contemporary touch to the story. “Magnificent” is a compelling story based on real events that occurred in Florence’s history thank to a plot that leaves space to reflection and deliver an important message in today’s society: the magnificence of human beings.
The Arms Room’walls has been covered with big screens in order to host the digital work, turning the audio-visual performance into an emotional, immersive and all-encompassing experience.

Magnificent is a project addressed to everybody and designed to be appreciated by a large public, regardless of age. The digital artwork is screened every 30 minutes in Italian and English, lasting 20 minutes each.

MUS.E (an in-house association of the Municipality of Florence which handles the enhancement of the Florentine Civic Museums) carried out the project and oversaw the selection of the content coming from the archives of the Department of Superintendence for the Historical, Artistic and Ethno-anthropological and the Museums of the City of Florence, the Department of Superintendence for Fine Arts and Urban Landscaping for the provinces of Florence, Pistoia and Prato, the Florentine Civic Museums, Opera del Duomo, Opera Santa Croce and from Scala Archives. The Municipality of Florence has strongly believed in this project, promoting it through the main Florentine events of the season, with the support of Expo Milano 2015 and of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.
